Taste Matters is a charity event hosted by Eva's Initiatives for Homeless Youth. The charitable organization is an award-winning organization that aims to help young people (16-24) who are homeless, living in shelters, “couch-surfing”, or housing insecure. Eva's also offers family and individual counseling to at-risk and homeless youth and their families. I think it's amazing that there is an outlet out there that works collaboratively with homeless and at-risk youth to help them reach their potential to lead productive.

Eva’s Taste Matters will be taking place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at The Atrium in Queen Richmond Centre West from 6 pm to 9 pm. The event is a feast of delectable delights that brings together Toronto’s finest food and beverage. Proceeds go to safe shelter, nutritious food and 24-7 support for homeless youth at Eva’s.  Early bird tickets are currently on sale at https://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/auctionhome.action?vhost=evas&utm_source=evas-tm-page&utm_medium=bttn&utm_campaign=TM2018&utm_term=buy-tickets-header

Eva’s Place opened their doors in 1994, and has since expanded from one to three shelters - Eva's Place, Eva’s Satellite and Eva’s Phoenix. All three shelters offer several different programs and services for homeless and at-risk youths. Since they started, they have helped approximately over 19,000 youth from the Greater Toronto Area and across Canada. It's a safe haven where youths are provided a supportive and safe environment as they try to better their lives.

The Mission: "The mission of Eva’s Initiatives is to work collaboratively with homeless and at-risk youth to help them reach their potential to lead productive, self-sufficient and healthy lives by providing safe shelter and a range of services, and to create long term solutions for homeless youth by developing and implementing proactive and progressive services." (source)

The grand-scale event will be held in The Liberty Grand in downtown Toronto. There will be over 20 food and beverage hosts, including a few tables featuring baked goods from the youth of Eva’s. Please support this great cause as all of the money raised from the event will go towards helping homeless youth receive critical job and life skills training and education, shelter, and housing for better futures.

Celebrate Toronto’s finest food and drink to help young people experiencing homelessness access better nutrition.

Instagram Stories is a feature that allows people to post photos and videos for 24 hours. Then, they disappear completely from your feed. If you don't want them to disappear after the deadline, then you can save the stories as a "Highlight".

Prior to the update, you had to share your Instagram covers in your stories to set them as covers for your highlights. You can now select a cover from your phone camera roll. No longer do you need to spam people with these covers ... yay! Unlike regular Instagram stories, highlights are saved to custom categories on your profile. Let's begin.

I have added a new stories category (Cheese Garden). Instagram automatically chose a cover photo from a screen cap of one of the stories.

1) Hold your finger on the highlight stories.

2) Select “Edit Highlight”

3) Select “Edit Cover”

4) Click on the “image” icon on the left

If you have a lot of photos and videos in the highlight. Scroll to the left for the image icon.

5) Select the highlight icon (you want) from your photo gallery

6) Select the photo, and then click on "done".

Volia! Custom highlight cover is up, and you did't annoy any of your followers =)

Our adventure in Port Hope started off at the Treetop Trekking Ganaraska in the Ganaraska Forest on a pretty warm Saturday morning. Located at the Ganaraska Forest Centre, this park offers ton of activities for those ages 9+.

Thanks to Port Hope Tourism, we got to partake in the zip line and aerial game treks ($59.99 per person), which is one of their most popular activities. Guests have up to three hours to complete the treks. Treetop Trekking consist of fun games like suspended bridges, Tarzan swings, swinging logs, cable traverses, and zip lines. Don't fret if you're new to this - as the park has a variety of courses ranging from beginners to advanced.

We arrived to the reception area, where we had to sign waiver forms and given wristbands. Once that was completed, we were grouped together and fitted with our helmet and harness. Prior to getting onto the trekking courses, everyone has to complete an orientation course. This process was to make sure that everyone was capable of using their equipment, and understanding of the rules. You also have to do a free-fall test to see whether you can pull yourself up or not - if you do lose footing. All of the courses are pretty high up from the ground. Overall, the check-in was very efficient and they do take safety very seriously at Treetop Trekking Ganaraska.

Don't forget to read and follow the rules.

The two beginner courses are Porcupine and Woodpecker. Despite being labelled as "easy" courses, it was a pretty intensive workout. I can't imagine how much harder the other four courses are like.

The courses present different levels of challenge. You are welcome to progress through them all, or go back to redo the ones you enjoy most.

We had a blast at Treetop Trekking Ganaraska, and it's definitely a great place for family, friends, and teams to enjoy a day up in the tree tops.

After treetop trekking, we drove about 26 minutes to downtown Port Hope for lunch. Lunch reservation was made at Olympus Burger, so our table was ready once we arrived. Additionally, the burger joint was featured on an episode of The Food Network’s television show ‘You Gotta Eat Here’, and also topped Canadian Living magazine's list of best burgers in Canada.

We were warmly greeted by Giorgos Kallonakis; the owner of the establishment. He was passionate about his products and business. I think it's always nice when owners take a more hand-on approach to running their restaurants. I also can appreciate the fact that the utensils here are environmentally-friendly. Olympus Burger is the first carbon-neutral burger restaurant in Ontario, as all of their straws and cups are made of renewable and compostable materials.

It's a very casual atmosphere, where customers would order the items and pay upfront at the counter. However, they provided table-service to us and our fellow bloggers that afternoon. The menu was a two-pager featuring a good selection of burgers. Given the branding, all of the menu items are themed around Greek mythology. Psst ... they also have a secret menu, which is available for viewing online.

I opted for the Zeus ($ 10.95) - Fresh beef patty, peameal bacon, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, aged white cheddar cheese, Olympus bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato. In line with their burgers, the beef patty was 6 oz, and was made fresh and in-house.

JJ got the Ares ($9.95) – Peppercorn beef patty, crispy bacon, caramelized onion, sautéed mushrooms and Olympus BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato.

Salads are also on the menu.

Overall, we had a very pleasant lunch experience at Olympus Burger.
