Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the annual Eat To The Beat charity event. Hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), it is the only event in Canada to exclusively features the talent of 60 female chefs. They have all come together for one night to offer support to women going through the challenges of breast cancer diagnosis.

The event was held at the Roy Thomson Hall on October 17, 2017, and managed to raise thousands of dollars of funds for women with a breast cancer diagnosis.  The Roy Thomson Hall’s lobby was transformed into a foodie mecca with so many food options available that night. Guests were able to enjoy specially prepared savory and sweet dishes at 60 stations, along with drinks from 20 of the finest beverage purveyors.

Eat To The Beat was started 21 years ago by sisters Lisa and Abby Slater, and has since raised more than $3.9 million since its introduction. The funds raised at the food event are directed towards supporting the full spectrum of breast cancer programs and services of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) – from important research where the latest innovations are developed to direct patient support – and will benefit not only the estimated 25,000 Canadian women who are diagnosed every year with this disease, but also the families and friends who love and support them. Every dollar counts!

There was also a live band performing a variety of top songs throughout the evening ensuring a lively atmosphere. It was a great event, where guests got to sample the culinary delights from all of the talented female chefs.
